Aaron was born into the cult of Jehovah’s Witnesses and never fully bought into the life that he was given. Knowing from a young age that he was gay he knew that he couldn’t fully be himself in the religion. A tight group of friends later in life would lead him into situations that eventually resulted in his shunning. Although it would still take several years to wake up even after shunning, Aaron has the opportunity to live as his authentic self.
The song that Aaron chose to represent his journey is Summer Storm by Joel P West.

This podcast was made possible by my original podcast This JW Life. You can find it on any podcast app or on YouTube. It is a 9 part series about life as Jehovah’s Witnesses designed to help you understand how it worked in one comprehensive story and to help you process your own if you came from that environment.

Aaron you have accomplished so much because your a strong awesome person! Things have worked out for you because you made it happen! Don’t ever forget that 😃
My brother & his family are Witnesses. So much heartbreak for our family and my sister-in-law ‘s. I pray that one day I could support my nephews as your non-witness aunt & uncle did for you. You are exceedingly brave & strong-surviving a high demand group, beating alcoholism, accepting your sexuality, finishing cosmetology school, managing a successful career. Blessings to you!
Thank you Barbara for your words! i hate to tell you to keep hoping. But you never know what will happen in the future. Hopefully one day one of them will come around and need your help and guidance. I hope the best for you and your family. Much love,
Aaron
