Episode 122 – Family Matters – Chris is shunned by Jehovah’s Witnesses

Chris comes from a large family of Jehovah’s Witnesses in the Montgomery Alabama area. Being from a big family can result in big family drama though, especially when everyone is in a cult that dictates behavior and divides families. In this episode you’ll learn about Chris, his family, his story, and how his story overlaps other things going on in the family as well.

The song that Chris chose to represent his journey is I Wanna Live by Fifth featuring P. Black

  1. Hey Chris,

Really enjoyed hearing your story today. I attended the same hall with you in the Millbrook congregation for a couple of years. I’m a little younger than you so we never really interacted, but I do remember seeing you around. Hope all is well and glad to see someone I know made it out. All the best.

  2. Chris,
Quite a ride they took you through brother! When you have a huge family in and they are close knit ( mine was also, I was 5 generation with 7 siblings) it’s horrible leaving everyone behind, and not because of I was being so perfect either, because I did a lot of things I wish I hadn’t too, but living a lie, just to keep the peace….just a damaged me more. Never looked back, officially out 20 years now.
I’m super proud of what you’re doing with your life growing and your choice of studies, I wish you nothing but the best and congratulate you on your courage. Not everyone can be this courageous!
